Cooler Master Hyper 212

The efficiency of a CPU cooler depends on the design of the heat sink, type of fan and materials used. The Hyper 212 is designed like a tower and stands a whopping 160mm tall. The heat sink has two stacks of aluminum fins with four copper heat pipes running through each of them. The heat pipes transfer heat from the copper base to the fins.

The stacks of fins aren’t rectangular and have their inner corners curved to facilitate airflow. The heat sink is exactly as wide as the nine-blade 120 mm LED fan that is fitted over it. This high airflow fan has a fixed speed of 2000 rpm, which ensures excellent cooling when combined with ample surface area provided by the fins. Mounting brackets for an additional fan are bundled in the package.

The Hyper 212 comes with a tube of high viscosity thermal paste and mounting hardware for both Intel LGA 775 and AMD Socket 754/939/940/AM2+ motherboards. Installing the CPU Cooler is extremely simple and doesn’t demand much efforts.

With the Hyper 212 Bolted onto an Intel Core2Extreme QX9650, the CPU could be stretched from 3.0Ghz to a whopping 4.22Ghz!! The temperature did NOT go beyond 40 Degrees Celsius throughout!! To compare the cooler, the Intel’s stock cooler hovered at around 45 Degree Celsius even at a low clock speed of 3.80 Degrees Celsius. This clearly shows the raw cooling power that the Cooler Master Hyper 212 gives the user.

This cooler is meant only for a high end machine and not just any budget PCs. These coolers are meant for extreme overclocking on the fly. The temperatures are easily controlled and since the fan spins at a constant 2000 rpm, there’s no chance of increase in temperature. If you’re not an avid over clocker, then stick with the Stock Intel/AMD cooler. Otherwise, this mammoth is just for you. A Silent, Easy to install and light for it’s size cooler, with excellent cooling. A major thumbs up to the cooler.

This Cooler will cost you a very reasonable $50. A great buy!
