There are hundreds of mobile phone models released every year. Some of them, if not most of them, we don´t remember the year after. Others become icons and are sold in million copies. We are going to list 8 of mobile phone models that bacame successful through the ages.
Sony Ericsson T610 (year 2003)
It´s rumored that Sony Ericsson was ordered by it´s owners to develop a successful mobile phone, or else they would consider to liquidate the company. Fortunately for Sony Ericsson, T610 became successful.
Sony Ericsson T610 offered nothing revolutionary and it wasn´t cheap. Why was it successful?
After few not so successful attempts from Ericsson to distance them from the “boring design” label they had came Sony Ericsson T610 with new and fresch design that was appealing by different type of buyers.
T610 had a display that could manage unusual amount of colors. It could take pictures in a resolution up to 288 x 352 pixels. WAP 2.0 capability and Bluetooth attracted more demanding buyers back then.
Motorola Startac (1996)
1996 was the year when the worlds smallest cell phone saw the light. Motorola Startac was the first clamshell mobile phone in the world and it bacame very popular among the people who could afford it.
It used an optional Li-ion battery, at a time when most phones were restricted to short-duration NiMH batteries.
Nokia 2110 (1995)
Today, this mobile phone looks like a smaller brick but when it was realeased in 1995 it was considered to be very flexible. This mobile phone became first successful mobile phone for Nokia and is considered by many people to be the phone that started to build todays mobile giant – known as Nokia.
Nokia N95 (2007)
We can say that Nokia N95 is a successful mobile phone today but it was far from great back in September 2006 when it was unveiled.
The phone felt far from complete and the software was not so stable as a man could wish. It was first after the mobile phone came out in stores in 2007 and updates were realeased that fixed major bugs that Nokia N95 showed it true colors.
Nokia N95, if updated regulary, can today be compared to new Nokia top mobile phones models because of the technology included in the phone.
Handspring Treo 180 (2002)
Handspring Treo 180 (2002) is considered to be the first smartphone in the world (if you exclude Nokia Communicator and Ericsson R380).
Handspring Treo 180 is a combination of PDA and cell phone. Equipped with the Palm OS, it gave users an opportunity to install thousands of smart programs that were written for Palm OS.
Palm also invented the browser called Blazer, which made it possible to show regular web pages pretty quickly on Handspring Treo 180 monochrome display.
Motorola Razr V3 (2004)
When Motorola released Razr back in year 2004 it made a big impact in the world of mobile phones. Due to its striking appearance and thin profile (only 13mm) it was widely used by celebrities on red carpet – in front of a tv camera and fans.
It was the best-selling cellular phone of all time until November of 2008 when it was surpassed by the iPhone. More than 100 million mobile phones had been so far…
Ericsson R310 (2000)
What can we say about a mobile phone that is available for purchase 8 years after it´s release?
Ericsson R310, called for “shark”, can stand water, dust and kicks better than any other phone.
This might not have been the best selling phone but with time it received a great status and a market demand that never really ceased.
Nokia 3310 (2000)
One of the most successful phones with 126 million pieces sold in the world. It´s very reliable and very loveable by many people.
I bet that someone you know are still using this phone or know someone that does.
